Victim identified in Thursday homicide in Pine Bluff

UPDATE 1:40 P.M.

On April 11, 2024, just before noon, Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 3104 S. Catalpa. On arrival, the officers located 35-year-old Kendrell Laws lying in the parking lot near this address. Laws had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by EASi ambulance.

Laws succumbed to his wound shortly after arrival and was pronounced dead at JRMC.

This homicide is still in the early stages of the investigation at the time of this release and the circumstances leading to this murder are still under investigation.

There is no suspect information to release at this time.

UPDATE 1:00 P.M.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley has informed SeArk Times that the victim has died from their injuries at Jefferson Regional Hospital.

Identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a shooting investigation near the corner of South Catalpa Street and North Midland Drive.

Police were dispatched to a barber shop in the area after gunshots were heard by people in the area.

Sources tell SeArk Times that one victim has been transported to the hospital. There is no information available on the condition of the victim at this time.
