Chris Vereen has been named head football coach of the Rison Wildcats following a unanimous vote by the Rison school board on Monday night.
Vereen, who makes his way to Rison from Star City, replaces Caleb Carmikle. Carmikle was recently named head coach at Heber Springs.
Vereen has had several stops as a head coach, to include jobs at Gillette, DeQueen, Hot Springs, and Star City.
While at Hot Springs he led the Trojans to their only playoff win in 40 years. He had a 32-24 record at Star City, including a 10-win season with the Bulldogs in 2022.
Sources within the Cleveland County School District tell SeArkTimes.com that Vereen is scheduled to begin coaching full time at Rison on April 22.
