14 shot, 3 killed in Fordyce mass shooting

UPDATE 8:15 PM: Arkansas State Police (ASP) has named the suspected shooter in today’s Fordyce grocery store shooting as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg.
Posey will be charged with three counts of Capital Murder. Additional charges are pending. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement, released to ASP custody, and transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center.
ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the shooting that occurred on Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:38 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store.
Fourteen people were injured from gunfire, including 11 civilians – three of whom were fatally wounded. Two of the 14 were law enforcement officers whose injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The civilian victims' injuries range from non-life threatening to extremely critical.

UPDATE 7:30 PM: FORDYCE, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:38 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce.
Fourteen people were injured from gunfire, including 11 civilians – three of whom were fatally wounded. Two of the 14 were law enforcement officers; their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The suspected shooter, who is in custody, was also shot and sustained injuries that are regarded as non-life-threatening.
The civilian victims' injuries range from non-life threatening to extremely critical.
"It's tragic, and our hearts are broken," said Col. Mike Hagar. "Our prayers, along with Governor Sanders and the entire state of Arkansas, will be with this community and those affected victims."
"I have been briefed on the tragic shooting in Fordyce, and I'm in constant contact with State Police at the scene. I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this," said Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

UPDATE 4:00 PM: Arkansas State Police Commander Mike Hagar stated in a press conference that 11 people were shot, with 3 killed in Friday’s mass shooting.
The suspect and two law enforcement officers are included in the 11 who were shot. The Suspect and both officers are not believed to age life-threatening injuries.
The three deaths are all civilians who were at Mad Butcher at the time of the shooting.
SUPDATE 2:47 PM: The Arkansas State Police has released more information on Friday’s shooting. That information is shared below:
At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, Arkansas State Police (ASP) responded to a shooting incident at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce. A total of nine individuals were shot.
Seven of the shooting victims were civilians, with two fatalities.
One law enforcement officer was also shot and has non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooter was critically injured after being shot by law enforcement and has been taken into custody.
ASP will hold a briefing at 3:30 p.m. today in the parking lot of Relyance Bank located at 610 West 4th Street in Fordyce.
UPDATE 1:58 PM: The Arkansas State Police has released a statement saying nine people were wounded and two have been killed in the incident. The statement is below:

UPDATE 1:17 PM: SeArk Times has confirmed that a suspect was wounded in the exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. The suspect and other wounded have been transported via med flight to area hospitals. Other wounded have been transported by ambulance.
SeArk Times has been told ambulances from Pro Med, MEMS, and EASI all responded to the scene to assist with caring for the wounded.
UPDATE: SeArk Times has been informed by emergency officials that eight total people are wounded to include one police officer. The condition of the wounded is unknown at this time.
Dallas County Sheriff Mark Kneodel has confirmed to media that the scene is contained and is safe.
Additionally, SeArk Times has been told the main suspect is in custody.

The Fordyce Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are actively investigating a shooting that has been described to SeArk Times as “a shootout” near the Mad Butcher grocery store.
Sources tell SeArk Times that there are people wounded, to include at least one law enforcement officer.
The same sources state that the shootout began Friday afternoon after a subject took a gun into the Mad Butcher grocery store. SeArk Times is told a shootout between the suspect and law enforcement took place shortly after officers arrived on scene.
